The history
The distillery was founded in 1753 by John Shenk and was then known as '' Shanks ''. He started making rye whiskey at the time.
In the middle of the 18th century, the distillery was bought by the Dutchman Abraham Bomberger, who renamed it "Bomberger's".
Because of prohibition from 1919, the distillery had to be closed and could be reopened only after the end of the alcohol ban. After that, it was financially far from being safe.
