History
The predecessor of the Glengoyne Distillery, named> Burnfoot <, was founded in 1833 by the Edmonstone family. Until 1851 the distillery license ran on George Cornell, the director of the distillery. Later, John McLelland, the new manager, was entered in the license. In 1867, he bought the distillery from the owner's family.
His son Archibald took over the management after his father got health problems. In 1876, Lang Brothers bought the distillery and renamed it to Glen Guin and, in 1905, Glengoyne.
After merging with Robertson & Baxter in 1965, Lang Brothers soon became Highland Distillers Co., which later became part of the Edrington Group.
Glengoyne has been owned by Ian MacLeod Distillers Limited since 2003.

Production
Glengoyne used their own floor maltings until 1910. Since the closure, the distillery has been procuring the required barley salt from large-scale malting plants. In a very old mill, the malt is ground to grist.
During a renovation in 1966/67, the previous wash was quietly replaced by two smaller stills, which are tuned to the capacity of the spirit still.
The Malts of Glengoyne are mainly used for the delusion of <Lang's>, <Famous Grouse> and <Cutty Sark>.

The storage
The malts are stored on the Lowland side as the distillery and warehouses are separated by the Lowlands-Highlands border.
For the barrels American or Spanish oak is used, mostly from Jerez in Spain, where previously premium sherry was produced.
