History
The Glen Moray Distillery was built in 1897 by the Glen Moray Glenlivet Distillery Co. in the buildings of an old brewery. In 1910, it was closed, only briefly produced in 1912 again.
Macdonald & Muir Ltd restarted the distillery in 1923 after being bought by the company in 1920. In 1996, she also founded Glenmorangie plc, which was acquired in October 2004 by Louise Vuitton / Moet Hennessy (LVMH).
As early as 2008, LVMH sold Glen Moray to the French group La Martiniquaise.

Production
In 1958, during the renovation of the Glen Moray Distillery, the capacity of the stills were doubled and in the same year the malting floors were replaced by a Saladin box (mechanical malt house). The malt is still ground by the old Porteus mill.
In 1978, the own malting was abandoned, since then the required malt is supplied by foreign malting. In 1979, two more stills were installed and in 1992 the two oldest stills were replaced by new ones.

The storage
The malts are stored in low warehouses with natural soils on the distillery grounds. They mature in ex-bourbon barrels, for finishings you set other types of barrels such. Sherry, port, chardonnay or other alcoholic beverages.
The produced malts are mostly used for the blended whiskeys> Label 5 <and> Glen Turner <.
