This single malt whisky is one of the Special Releases 2019 of Diageo. The Mortlach is aged for 26 years in first-fill Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. This gives the whisky a deep, rich and fruity intense character.
The aroma of Mortlach 26 years is complex with notes of dark fruit, old oak and soft leather that develop into aromas of toffee and coffee beans covered with chocolate. The taste is sweet with plum fruits, slightly hearty and spicy-dry. The gentle, long-lasting finish combines spice and fruit.
This particular bottling is limited to 3,888 bottles. A very complex distillation process developed by Alexander Cowie in the 19th century is used to produce the Mortlach whiskys. The spirit goes through six different stills, which differ in shape and size, and is distilled exactly 2.81 times.
