The "Don Papa Rum" or "The Don" was inspired by the story of a silent hero of the Philippine Revolution: Dionisio Magbuelas, better known as "Papa" Isio. First as a foreman on a sugar plantation, Papa Isio - healer, shaman, seer and rebel - played a key role during the late 19th century Philippine Revolution.

Papa Isio's spirit and leadership played a crucial role in liberating Negro from Spanish rule and ultimately led to independence for his beloved country.

The western Negros is and has always been the sugar capital of the Philippines. Due to the perfect combination of the climate, the geography and the rich volcanic soil of the island, Negros is ideal for sugar cane production.
