The history
Mackmyra was founded in 1999 by eight young students of the Royal Institute of Technology. In 2002 they were able to commit to two recipes after about 170 different tests. Then the construction of the distillery began, which began in October 2002 with the production.
The first Limited Edition Preludium 01 was launched in February 2007 and sold out within 20 minutes.
In 2009, the founders decided to build a new gravity distillery, which was put into operation in 2011 and operated with its own bioenergy plant. The new distillery makes use of natural gravity and is a concrete building with seven floors and 35m height unusually to look at.

The production
All ingredients used come from Mackmyra from a radius of about 120 km, only the yeast is delivered from Rotebro. The barley is malted and the peat comes from Österfärnebo. In addition, the addition of dyes is dispensed with. It's getting distilled in two copper pot stills.
The storage
Mackmyra malts are matured in ex-bourbon barrels, ex-sherry casks and Swedish oak. In several warehouses, which are not only in Sweden, the whiskey is stored in only 30 liters of small barrels.
