History
In 1825 a few farmers founded a small distillery called Glenforres. This served as a cooperative, to cover the whiskey's own needs. Edradour was first mentioned in 1837, although one is not sure if this is really Glenforre's predecessor.
The cooperative, which was converted into John McClashan & Co. in 1841, was bought in 1886 by the American company J.G. Turney & Sons. Their subsidiary William Whitley & Co. Ltd. became a separate company again in 1933 and renamed the distillery to Gelnforres-Glenlivet.
Campbell Distilleries took over in 1982 the company William Whitley & Co. Ltd, in the meantime also took place the name change in> Edradour <.
Since July 22, 2002, the distillery Andrew Symington owned by Signatory.
